when Yogananda was having a terrible time of focusing and his mind was full of other thoughts and concerns.\u00a0 He had recently returned from a brief adventure, hoping to find God outside of his master&#8217;s ashram.\u00a0 Having laid his life at the feet of his Guru, his Guru knew of his activity which could hardly be called meditation.\u00a0 It was at this time his Guru, Sri Yukteswar, gave Yogananda God realization.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>This example shows us we should not give up.\u00a0 We should try to help ourselves spiritually when we can.\u00a0 Sometimes it could mean saying mantras while commuting, as a friend used to do.\u00a0 Another friend, having a family and successful career, found time to decompress (as she called it) while sitting on her patio.\u00a0 She said, when having alone time on her patio she was able to clear her mind and essentially stop all thought, and just be in the moment.\u00a0 When she told me about her experience, my comment was simply, &#8220;if it works for you, keep doing it.&#8221;<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-ff8455a elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"ff8455a\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-c32c245\" data-id=\"c32c245\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1a37ee0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"1a37ee0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna has some guidance for Arjuna (his disciple) regarding how to approach life when one cannot devote oneself to a spiritual life.\u00a0\u00a0<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9e89874 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9e89874\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><\/p>\n<p>In chapter 3 verse 9, after explaining the 2 approaches to successful devotion, Krishna tells Arjuna that one is bound by action (karma from action) except if it is done for the sake of sacrifice.&nbsp; (So, all actions should be done with an attitude of sacrifice, rather than for oneself)<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p>In chapter 3 verse 19, Krishna tells Arjuna that he should do his duty without attachment to obtain the supreme&#8230;<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>In chapter 12 verse 8, Krishna tells Arjuna to be continually focused on him (Krishna)<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>In chapter 12 verse 9, Krishna says that if he can&#8217;t do that, one should be devoted to yoga through practice<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>In chapter 12 verse 10, Krishna says that if one is unable to practice, then the work undertaken in life should be devoted to him (Krishna or God &#8211; they are synonymous in this case<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>In chapter 12 verse 11, Krishna says that if one is unable to even devote all work to him, one should subdue mind and intellect and relinquish the fruit of all labor (live a life of renunciation)<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ideas and approaches if you are not successful or can&#8217;t seem to meditate?
